German Rally Championship
Top-ten position
In the second round of the season, Tim Stebani tied in with the successful debut he had made in the Rally Oberland: in Schleswig, Northern Germany, the 22-year old scored another 12 championship points, finished third in his division and worked his way up to a top-ten position in the German Rally Championship.
“At this point in time we are really happy with our position,” Stebani said after the ‘Wikinger Rally’. “For us, finishing the event represented the No 1 priority. Now we have got a solid basis to progress from during the coming rounds of the season.”
And indeed, Tim Stebani could rely on his Opel Corsa OPC – and the Spiess tuned 1.6-litre turbo engine delivered just as flawlessly. “The car has covered some 250 special-stage kilometres, now,” Stebani revealed. “And we are absolutely happy with its performance. Nonetheless, we are aware that the Corsa still has got a lot of potential.” For the coming German Rally Championship round, the teams and drivers will travel to the ‘Vogelberg’ in Hesse. There, the region around the rally metropolis Schlitz will be the venue of a new event, held from 23rd to 25th April.
