British Formula 3
Second title for Volkswagen
Following Laurens Vanthoor’s early title triumph in the ATS Formula 3 Cup, a second Volkswagen driver has secured a title: on 12th and 13th September, Australian Daniel Ricciardo won the British Formula 3 Championship early. Ricciardo prevailed in both rounds of the season kick-off and since then, he was the man to beat. For Volkswagen it was the sixth British Formula 3 Championship title altogether.
„Daniel Ricciardo and his Team, Carlin Motorsport, did a great job,” congratulated Holger Spiess. “To have won the title with only 18 of the 20 rounds being contested represents an impressive achievement.”
“I’m truly delighted that we have been that successful right after our comeback in the UK,” added Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. For 20-year old Daniel Ricciardo, the British Formula 3 title represents the biggest success in his career to date.
