Test bench
After the accurate testing of the individual components and the
following assembly, the engine approaches the cusp of decision. Here, the wheel
of design, manufacturing and assembly turns full circle On the test benches,
the components or the entire project have to demonstrate once and for all if
they meet the high demands and are worth to represent the name of Spiess out
there in the world.
Make-or-break!
Spiess uses five test benches, four of them being engine test
benches and one a component test bench. Together, they cover the most different
testing options, from air mass flow rate and pressure surveys to external weather
determination and media supply. Every test bench is equipped with a Blow-By-Meter.
In addition, there is an 'Indymaster AVL' indicating system available for the
individual use at the respective test bench.
The test-bench results are permanently surveyed and thanks to
the close cooperation of the different departments, it is possible to immediately
respond to any potential detraction.
The dynamic test bench represents one of the most realistic
testing options. Gear changes, brake points and throttle valve positions can
be simulated appropriate to the real racing conditions. The entire engine has
to cope with realistic driving situations and different environmental impacts.
For the simulation of numerous racetracks, the respective circuit data can be
adopted straight out of the car - or exactly according to customer specific
driving cycles and parameters. Details »
